Chris deFaria, the President of DreamWorks Feature Animation Group, will serve as a judge for the 2018 Maumee Film Festival!
Chris deFaria oversees the studio’s feature animation business including slate strategy, development, production, innovation and technology, and business affairs. There are six films currently in production including How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Abominable, Trolls 2, The Boss Baby 2, Spooky Jack and Croods 2. deFaria also launched the DreamWorks Shorts Program which has two inaugural films releasing in 2018, Bird Karma and Bilby.
Prior to joining DreamWorks Animation, deFaria served as President of Animation and Technology Innovation at Warner Bros, where he worked for over 20 years. Known for pushing technological boundaries, deFaria spearheaded the development and application of emerging technologies and applied them to the creative process with groundbreaking results, notably in such breakthrough films as: Gravity, Mad Max: Fury Road, 300, Happy Feet Two, Sucker Punch, The Lego Movie franchise, Edge of Tomorrow, the Harry Potter films, Man of Steel and The Matrix trilogy. While no longer at Warner Bros., deFaria remains an executive producer on Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One and is working closely with the director on this innovative film.
Chris deFaria sits on the boards of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and LACMA and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Writers Guild of America. DeFaria is also a founding board member of FilmAid International, a non-profit organization that screens educational and informational films in refugee camps around the world.
deFaria will judge the films remotely, it is unclear if he will attend the festival – we will keep you posted!
